The “Carpet Capital 10-Miler” has been run continuously since its inception in 1988 as the BASF Road Race. It is one of the stops in the Run & See Georgia Grand Prix and is currently the RRCA State Championship race at the 10-mile distance. In past years, it has been the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Southern Region Championship race as well as one of the races in the USATF Georgia Association’s Long Distance Running (LDR) grand prix series.
In 1995, the Carpet Capital Running Club took on complete sponsorship of the race, and it was renamed the “Carpet Capital 10-Miler”. As one of the few certified 10-mile courses in the state of Georgia, it holds almost every state record in all age groups. Entrants come not only from Georgia but from several surrounding states.
