President's Corner
August 7, 2008
GREETING FELLOW RUNNERS. Thank you everyone that participated in Saturdays John Bruner Missionary Ridge Road Race. There were between 55 and 60 participants from the running club in attendance. Although the course was somewhat hilly I think everyone had a very good time and the club had several runners place in their age group.
Our next on the road club run will be the 32nd Annual Apple Festival 5K Road Race, Saturday October 11 at 8:00 AM. A link to the race is on the website. Anyone interested in car pooling to Ellijay please email me and we will make arrangements to meet somewhere that morning.
Looking a little further out do we have anyone interested to running a marathon, a half marathon or just going to the beach early 2009? We are looking at traveling to the Tybee Island Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K Road Race that is scheduled for February 7, 2009. The race is advertised as scenic, flat and fast.
More information to come so let's start training.
If you have any suggestions to make your club better just drop me an email.

Katherine Whitlow Fund
July 5, 2008
Katherine Hammontree Whitlow was a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, an aunt, a cousin, a designer, an artist and a homecoming queen. She was all of those things and embodied her place in each with honesty, grace and passion. She was all of those things and she was a Christian. On December 20, 2006, Katie was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. One year after that, to the date, she died. At the time of her death, Katie was four months pregnant with a son, Bascom Ancil Whitlow. >>more
New CCRC Wicking T Shirt
July 1, 2008
We now have a limited number of wicking (technical) t-shirts with the CCRC
logo on them. These shirts are great for hot weather running or as a layer
in the winter. You can purchase them for $15 each, plus
shipping of $2 per
shirt if you want it mailed to you. See the shirt (click image for larger picture) modeled
by Jeff Paterson's
son on the attached picture. Some members have already
received a shirt from
the first order and from all reports I have heard, everyone
loves them.
We are encouraging members to wear these shirts at the next club race at Missionary Ridge on Aug 2nd.
