USATF GEORGIA ASSOCIATION GRAND PRIX SERIES OF RACES
The Carpet Capital 10 Miler has been run continuously since its inception in 1988 as the BASF Road Race. It is currently the RRCA State Championship race at the 10 mile distance and in past years has been the RRCA Southern Region Championship race (Road Runners Club of America). This event is also a part of the Run & See Georgia grand prix. For the third consecutive year, the Carpet Capital 10 Miler will be participating in the USATF GEORGIA ASSOCIATION GRAND PRIX SERIES OF RACES! It is the USATF Georgia Association Championship and a USATF Georgia LDR Grand Prix Race.
In 1995, the Carpet Capital Running Club took on the total sponsorship of the race, and it was renamed the Carpet Capital 10 Miler. As one of the few certified 10 mile courses in the state of Georgia, it holds 28 state records in almost all age groups. Entrants come not only from Georgia but from several surrounding states. Within the club is a wealth of experience in all aspects of organizing a first quality event, and over 50 volunteers provide pre-race and race day support. Local sponsors take care of expenses and supply post-race refreshments. Proceeds raised go to the Whitfield County and Dalton Education Foundations to support special programs for area students.

Comments on Race
"Congratulations on a well done race event. The church bells about half way out and back added a super touch for the race. People here are very surprised when I mention the morning temp. of the run. That's a cold winter morning in Minnesota . Again my thanks on a job well done."
