She won the female junior division of the 1988 New York City Marathon in a time of 3:13 . Her favorite races are the Hogpen Hill Climb and the Niagara Falls Marathon. Belinda states that she is not fast or gifted. "I have to gut it out at each race, but I love to run, especially on trails in the snow." The main reason Belinda runs is because she loves to compete, to challenge herself, to relieve stress from teaching school and to just feel good about being healthy. She runs marathons because she loves to run, but mostly because it helps grow her faith, for each mile "I must totally trust God to help me through. He is my strength in every run that I attempt as well as all the other challenges of my life."

Men

Bernardo Lopez

Overall Male Winner

Bernardo joined the CCRC this past year and made a big splash. He started running again about 3 years ago. Even when he took several years off, he was playing a lot of soccer so getting back in running shape wasn't that difficult. He competed in 10 of the ROY events, finishing in front or near the front of most of them. Bernardo likes running because it makes him feel better and it teaches his children that staying healthy is fun. Bernardo's goal for 2005 is to complete his first marathon. After the way he competed this year, he's not going to have a problem with this goal.
