2010 CCRC Runner Of The Year Series

The Runner Of The Year Series for 2010 is a series of 14 races (8 for Junior runners), most of which are local or very close to the Dalton area. Racing gets underway March 13th and continues until December 3rd.

ROY information will always be posted on the CCRC website by the greatest web master in the running world, Dr. Brad Delay. Please make note of some rule changes from last year (we love to tinker). Please remember to send in your times. I will do my best not to miss anyone but I am not the one ultimately responsible, you are.

We wish you all a safe and fun racing season. Now….tighten up those shoe laces, go to the Port-A-Pot one last time, straighten up that race number and get up to that starting line. The gun is about to fire on the 2010 season

Rules

Junior Divisions

1. Participants can compete in up to 8 ROY races this year (see calendar for applicable races).
2. Participants are not required to volunteer. Participants must score (by racing) in a minimum of 4 specified ROY events during the season to be eligible for ROY honors

Open Divisions

1. Participants must score points (by racing) in a minimum of 6 ROY events throughout the year and must volunteer at one volunteer listed event throughout the year to be eligible for season ending awards. 40 volunteer points will be given when a contestant volunteers at one of the specified ROY races. You can receive Volunteer points 2 times during the year so you can actually get 80 points this year by volunteering (see calendar, only races listed as Volunteer Credit will be counted). If you volunteer for the Summer Track Series, you will get volunteer credit to meet your minimum requirement but you will not receive points. Please note, this year you will not be able to receive Volunteer credit and race points from the same event. YOU MUST volunteer for the whole event to get credit.
2. Points will be awarded in each age group as follows: 50 for first place, 40 for second place, 30 for third place, 20 for fourth place, 10 for fifth place. Everyone who participates past 4th place will be awarded 10 points. You are only racing against other people in CCRC.
3. A one time bonus of 50 points will be awarded for competing in a race of marathon distance or longer throughout the year. A one time bonus of 30 points will be awarded for competing in a half marathon. The marathon/half marathon points are awarded for completion of one of these events in the 2010 calendar year. Please make sure we post your proper points after the first race if you have already completed one of these races. Like we said, all you have to do is show up and run.
4. NEW FOR 2010: We will give a one time 60 Point Race Coordinator’s Bonus for all you runners wanting to try your hand at race management. This is in addition to any other volunteering.
5. If you decide to change age groups during the season, your points will not carry over.

Awards

Awards will be presented at the Annual CCRC Banquet. If you have any questions regarding Runner of the Year, please email patricklyn@windstream.net or call at 259-5549.

Questions

Due to the number of races on the schedule, we must ask for your help in posting points this year. It is up to each participant to email their name, age, race competed in, and finishing time to Patrick Douglas at patricklyn@windstream.net. This information needs to be sent no later than Wednesday following the race so we can keep the points list current. Any Volunteer credit or Marathon/half marathon points need to be sent in as well so we can get them posted. Many of these race results will not be posted on the Internet. Unfortunately, neither David Leatherman nor Patrick Douglas will be able to travel to each of these races to get your results. If either David or Patrick is at the race, you can give your times there and not have to send via email. If you do not have access to email, you can leave the information at 706-259-5549.
